Two 656-foot spools at 0.2 mm are the quiet headline here, but the reason this one kept ending up on our rods was how much it stretches before it breaks. We wrapped shrimp, chicken liver, and cut bait, and the thread pulled tight around each without slicing through the soft edges. The white color disappears against most baits, and the spools are long enough that we never felt like we were rationing it.
That combination makes it the best all-around bait thread in this set. Where the Skylety spools ask for a little more care, the AnglerDream thread has enough give to hold a liver bait through a hard cast without turning the bait into a paste. We also liked that it breaks off cleanly, so you can wrap, snug, and pull free without hunting for scissors.
It is still a 0.2 mm thread, so it is not the finest option for tiny roe sacs or clear, pressured water; a thinner thread gives you a less visible wrap, at the cost of strength. For mixed bait, that is the right compromise. What keeps it at the top is how little thread it takes to secure a bait; a few turns do the job.
Pros
- Stretches far without snapping on casts
- Holds liver, shrimp, and cut bait
- Breaks off cleanly by hand
- Two 656-foot spools cover a season
Cons
- Spools have no dispenser or case
The AnglerDream is the bait thread we recommend first: its 0.2 mm stretch holds shrimp, liver, and cut bait through hard casts, and the two long spools cover a full season.
